DAY 3: Now that you have completed you have filled out your sentence stem and chosen a phenomenon it's time to research how your phenomenon works within your chosen context. Once you feel you have enough information on how and why it works it will be time to create your own model. I will give you ONE sheet of paper to create your model, I would recommend you do a rough draft in pencil on a separate sheet before doing your final draft IN BLACK PEN.
You will need:
DAY 2: Now that you have completed your study guide it's time to create your own model and choose your own phenomenon. You will see white boards spaced around the room, each board has a number in purple ink, you will be using this board to help you find your phenomenon. You will need to use vocabulary from Units 1 and 2 to fill in the first three blanks. Your final blank will be a phenomenon your table would like to move forward with for your final project.
Once you have figured out your phenomenon it's time to research your choice to get as much information on how these your concepts fit into the phenomenon. What would be the information you would need to assign this to your fellow classmates. What would be the essay answer that would incorporate all the concepts and content from both units.
One of the important lessons I try to teach you all is that it is OK to fail. It's OK to make mistakes as long as you learn from them and try again, but I also think it is important to show you. So, as I said yesterday to students in class yesterday, Part II of this assignment was an unintentional failure on my part as a result it has been redesigned. Failing is a part of life but true failing is giving up, I will never teach you that giving up is alright. :)
So Period 2 and 5 please look back to yesterday's post
You are a day ahead of everyone so today you will start the second part of the revised project. After you and your group worked on your "Study Guide", which you all created in yesterday's assignment, today we will be working on finding a phenomenon that will link the two units together using the following sentence stem:
You will be using sticky notes and working with your whole table to think back to major concepts and vocabulary to fill in the blanks and find a phenomenon that you would want to explore. You will do this on the large post-it notes and we'll keep track of periods and tables. Below you will see some of the assignments we have had and that may help you come up with ideas, stay away from solar panels and exoplanets as those have already been used.
Today you we will modify our final project as many of you were struggling to find information on your planets. So we are going to concentrate on digesting our concept maps from Units 1 & 2. At your tables you will be creating a review document that you will want to share to help you prepare for your final.
